AMRDO Foundation considers disaster preparedness and response a critical part of its mandate and has developed a comprehensive Disaster Preparedness and Response Strategy to ensure the safety and well-being of communities across its operational areas.
Realizing the drastic shifts in the global climate scenario, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) is one of AMRDO's major programs. The organization is dedicated to ensuring that communities are well-prepared for disasters by developing contingency plans, collaborating with media, stakeholders, and donors, and engaging in advocacy and research to enhance response capacity.
Sindh is among Pakistan's most climate-vulnerable provinces, facing recurrent floods, droughts, heatwaves, and sea-level rise. The 2022 floods submerged more than two-thirds of the country, affecting over 33 million people. Climate projections indicate such extreme events will become more frequent and intense.
