What began in 1998 as a voluntary group of passionate social activists led by Mr. Abdul Jabbar Chhachhar has matured into a registered, highly structured, and impact-driven non-profit development foundation operating in 21 districts of Sindh.
Founded as Al-Mehran Rural Development & Welfare Organization (AMRDWO) to combat deep-rooted poverty in Sindh.
Registered formally under the Societies Act XXI of 1860, establishing transparent and professional systems.
Transformed into AMRDO Foundation in June 2016, expanding program capacity and multi-sectoral reach.
Incorporated under Section 42 of Companies Act, 2017 & Sindh Charity Commission compliant.
A group of likeminded social activists led by Mr. Abdul Jabbar Chhachhar refused to stay silent against rural poverty and exclusion. They laid the foundation of Al-Mehran Rural Development & Welfare Organization (AMRDWO). "Mehran" was named after the ancient lifeline river—Sindhu Darya.
Established our foundational doctrine: "Just as the Indus River flows without discrimination, nourishing all lands along its banks, AMRDO Foundation serves all communities without any social segregation or class distinction." Universal humanity became our compass.
Transitioned from an informal voluntary group into a structured, registered organization. This milestone cemented our commitment to professional management, institutional transparency, and systemic impact.
Evolved into AMRDO FOUNDATION. This strategic transformation brought enhanced governance through a diverse Board of Directors, institutional capacity strengthening, and readiness for large-scale multi-sectoral projects.
Incorporated as a non-profit company under Section 42 of the Companies Act, 2017 with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), and registered with the Sindh Charity Commission for full provincial compliance.
Realigned strategic priorities toward holistic human development: tackling root causes of poverty, enabling economic amelioration, advancing gender equity, and providing inclusive social protection.
